NDC Campaign Launch: “John Dumelo’s Campaign Message Was So Unconvincing”

john dumeloIMG_0041A Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko has talked against the time Ghanaian actor John Dumelo was given the podium to deliver his speech at the recently held campaign launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr. Aggre Darko on Oman FM in Accra said other key personalities in the ruing party should have spoken after the former president gave his message but not John Dumelo.

“I was surprised to see John Dumelo speak after former president. I was thinking that after former president, the chairman would speak because within the high hierarchy the chairman is very important rr maybe after former president, other key executives would give their messages.

The conclusion some of us made after they brought on stage following ex-president’s speech was maybe they are not following any specific order.

They should have put Jerry Rawlings closer to the key executives.” he said.

He continued, “apart from the fact that John Dumelo is a star in Ghana, his statement was so unconvincing.” The political scientist stated that the “4play” actor should have been coached before appearing at the event held on Sunday, August 14 in Cape Coast.

“They should have trained him on what he said. If you find yourslef on such campaign platform, you should be able to excite the crowd. At that level people want something to hear but if you are only mobilizing the youth from NPP…. we were even mocking him” Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko said.

He quickly added that “this is not to take away the fact that he has declared his support because I’ve strongly argued several times that it is his right and we cannot take that right away from him.”

The actor was reported to have said at the campaign launch of the ruling party that “Some time ago, I met some people and from what they told me, I didn’t like it. I met the NDC and I was swayed. The NDC is a tolerant party; it is a people party. The opportunities in NDC are better than any party… The NDC is the party that will move Ghana forward from now till eternity,”
