Ministry of Health and United Nations Population Fund has named actor, John Dumelo as the new ambassador for Obstetric Fistula.
Mr. Dumelo was unveiled at a short ceremony held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra on Thursday, August 11.
The actor at the event promised to use his fame to help save pregnant women who face this sickness when they are in labor.
He outlined numerous techniques he will implement to embark on the journey to eradicate Obstetric Fistula in Ghana.
An obstetric fistula is a hole between the vagina and rectum or bladder that is caused by prolonged obstructed labor, leaving a woman incontinent of urine or feces or both.

Dumelo in November 2015 was invited by the United Nations Population Fund to see how best they can collaborate and reduce the rate of obstetric fistula Ghana.
